由于1975年大规模的自然灾害，人类文明濒临崩坏。大陆被海洋淹没、倒塌的核电厂造成大规模污染，从这个致命的时代幸存的人并不多；受到辐射污染而生下的小孩大多不是产生变异就是直接死亡，食物跟资源逐渐短缺后，人性也跟着崩坏而使人类彼此之间开始自相残杀。
在这个残酷的新世界当中仍然有不放弃希望的人们试着与大自然努力共生。而主角Aino就是一个活在这么残酷世界的人，玩家在游戏当中要操作艾诺在废墟中寻找堪用的素材，有的时候还要根据前人留下的遗物进行解谜。
